A new permanent exhibit at the Steveston Tram museum is opening to the public this coming weekend.
The new exhibit will be about interurban rail travel and how it changed the lives of Richmond residents.
Visitors can expect new displays including an interactive tramline map and a timeline of the interurban tram system in Steveston starting Feb. 17.
There will also be story vignettes of people who rode the tram and a photo display of those who helped restore the tram.
“It is exciting to help people understand how important Interurban travel was in the development of Richmond,” said Mayor Malcolm Brodie.
“These displays will bring joy to the hearts of those young and old who have a love of riding the rails, while connecting them to Richmond’s past.”
The interurban rail travel exhibit is also part of the Richmond Stories video series highlighting the Steveston Tram that can be viewed here.
During the Family Day weekend, Feb. 17 to 20, children also can take part in free crafts and activities including a Jr. Conductor program for kids to receive a punch card to record their visits and earn prizes.
