Free admission to an interactive museum showcasing Canada's sports history will be available every month starting August.
From Aug. 1, community members will get to check out the Richmond Olympic Experience for free on the first Thursday of each month.
Admission to the museum will also be free on Canada Day.
The Richmond Olympic Experience, located inside the Richmond Olympic Oval, features sports simulators for kayaking, sit-skiing, bobsleighing, car racing, and the latest addition, surfing.
Visitors can also test themselves with interactive challenges such as shot put, sport climbing and basketball.
Exhibits detailing Canada's sports history are available, as well as a sports reporting simulator.
The community day is part of a series of initiatives to allow more community members to visit the Oval, said Richmond Olympic Oval managing director Gerry De Cicco in a media release.
"The Richmond Olympic Oval has realized a significant increase in visitation in the past few years, especially in peak periods. Even with the significant uptake from the paying public, providing low or no-cost options for the Richmond community remains a strategic initiative for 2024," he added.
Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the entry period will run from 2 to 5 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. To check on ticket availability, call the Richmond Olympic Oval's front desk at 778-296-1400.
