One person charged in Richmond ID-forgery lab

One person is being charged related to a suspected forged-identification lab in Richmond.

The Richmond Economic Crime Unit and Drug Target Team executed a search warrant at a residence of a suspected forgery lab on Dec. 22, 2022.

According to Richmond RCMP, the search found evidence consistent with a forged-identification lab.

On May 23, Ameer Ayube was charged for trafficking in identity information, identity theft and possession of forgery instruments under the Criminal Code.

A warrant is outstanding for Ayube's arrest on these charges.

"This successful investigation by Richmond RCMP underscored our commitment to combating fraud in our community," said Staff Sgt. Patrick Damgaijian, NCO in charge of Richmond Organized Crime Unit Commander.

"We urge all victims of fraud to come forward and report any incidents. Your information is crucial in helping us protect and serve our residents effectively."
