One person was sent to the hospital but no one had serious injuries after two vehicles crashed near Matthew McNair secondary.
BC Emergency Health Services had received a call about a crash near Aquila and Williams roads at 8:53 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
"The two vehicles involved, a white 2019 Lincoln and a grey 2021 Toyota Venza were significantly damaged and later towed from the scene," said Cpl. Ian Henderson, Richmond RCMP spokesperson.
Drivers and passengers involved in the crash had minor injuries and only one person was sent to the hospital for "non-life threatening injuries," he added.
One driver, who left but returned to the scene, was fined $586 in total for failing to remain at the scene of an accident, driving contrary to restrictions and failing to display their learner's permit.
Sukhwant Dhillon, a parent who happened upon the scene while dropping off his kid, noticed two McNair teachers attending the scene shortly after the incident. He suspects students from the school may have been involved in the accident.
Richmond RCMP, however, has not released the ages and identities of the drivers involved.
"This was clearly a learning experience for at least one of the drivers involved," said Henderson.
"We are very fortunate that no one was seriously hurt in this collision."
