Twenty Panther Cheer athletes experienced the spirit of giving back this past week, as they visited the Richmond Lions Manor senior care home.

Ranging in age from five to 11-years-old, the athletes worked on their leadership and communications skills leading up to the event by encouraging their classmates to make Valentine’s Day cards for the seniors. The Panther Cheer athletes visited those in the care home and brightened their day through games and a performance.

Now in its third year, the annual event brings joy to both the seniors and the athletes as they connect with each other.

"We are so proud of the children for stepping out into the community and seeing that most often, it is the giving of their time and love that matters the most to those in their community,” wrote owners Dawn Silver and Stephanie Kennedy in a joint press release.

Panther Cheer Athletics is an athletic centre in Richmond that provides character and fitness training to about 300 athletes through cheerleading, tumbling, trampoline and ninja classes.
