Pedestrian killed Monday night on Westminster Highway

Visibility and crossing location to blame, say police
fatals

In another sobering reminder for pedestrians and drivers to use extra caution on the roads, especially when it’s dark and rainy, a 75 year-old woman was killed Monday night while trying to cross Westminster Highway, just west of Gilbert Road, according to Richmond RCMP.

Cpl. Stephanie Ashton said bad weather and the location at which the woman was crossing are suspected as factors in the fatality, which occurred at about 10 p.m.

Police closed the road for five hours as the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Services (ICARS) investigated.

ICARS has spoken to a number of witnesses and the driver remained at the scene, however if you know of any more information you are asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
