It seems like a long time ago now that there used to be a Budget Appliances store in Steveston.
The Moncton Street store closed for good more than a year ago, but the premises dates back to at least 1912, according to City of Richmond records.
It operated as Ray’s Drygoods at some point in the building’s history before opening as Budget in 1977.
In this city archives photo from 1984, it was called Admiral Appliances and you can see its neighbour at the time, L & L Discount Supplies, which is now A Monkey Tree.
