The Steveston Block Party was a great success, according to the event organizer Alex Sagert.
Sagert handed out almost 300 free ice-cream bars throughout the day at Lord Byng elementary.
“It was so awesome to see families of all ages show up with a blanket and a picnic and play cards or get to know their neighbours better,” said Sagert.
“That was the point of this, and I look forward to planning this again next year.”
Sagert was joined by members from Richmond RCMP, Richmond Rugby Football Club, BC Lions and their cheerleaders.
Also there were Mayor Malcolm Brodie, city councillors Bill McNulty, Alexa Loo, Andy Hobbs, Richmond-Steveston MLA Kelly Greene and Richmond MP Parm Bains.
Sagert threw the block party with the hopes of getting to know his neighbours better, after more than two years of covid restrictions.
