Richmond RCMP officers have recovered a rifle from the home where a man was arrested and a baby was recovered after a tense standoff Wednesday.

Cpl. Dennis Hwang revealed Thursday that officers found the .223 calibre rifle while they were executing a search warrant for the home.

The day before, more than a dozen police vehicles descended on the home in the 8000 block of No 2 Road for reports of a domestic disturbance involving a weapon.

Officers asked the public to avoid the area while they persuaded a man inside to surrender peacefully.

After an hour-long standoff, the 29-year-old man was arrested.

Officers recovered a baby from inside the home, who was unharmed.

No one was injured in the incident.
