The annual Canada Day celebration is finally happening in person this year, but the canning of the signature parade is a disappointment to some.
In response to our poll, 33 per cent of readers expressed their relief for an in-person festival. But almost 28 per cent said that it’s just not the same without the parade.
Meanwhile, 20 per cent said that they were not a fan of the festival, and 18 per cent were not aware that the festival was back.
Due to COVID-safety reasons, the traditional Canada Day parade has been replaced with “a number of festival zones spread across the village of Steveston,” according to the event website.
The 75th Steveston Salmon Festival will take place on July 1, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
