While Richmond has seen a lot of rain in the past couple of days, Environment Canada is now warning Metro Vancouver residents that “heavy wet snow” will be possible in the Lower Mainland and higher elevations of southern Vancouver Island on Monday.
According to a special weather statement release on Sunday, a low pressure system crossing the Washington state on Monday will bring" moisture to the southern parts of the south coast."
Areas with heavy precipitation will see the heavy rain “switch over to heavy wet snow above about 150 metres” during the day, reads the statement.
Areas at the sea level may experience mixed rain and snow and areas where precipitation is not heavy, such as northern part of Vancouver, will likely see snow level above 200 metres.
However, "snowfall accumulations are uncertain at this time."
