Metro Vancouver residents may need to dole out a little extra cash at the pump on Friday, as record high gas prices are expected across the region.
According to Dan McTeague, Senior Petroleum Analyst for GasBuddy, Friday could see a new record of 164.9 cents per litre in the Lower Mainland.
By Thursday, prices had reached their highest since last October, when a new record of 163.9 cents per litre was set following the Enbridge pipeline explosion near Prince George.
⚠️⛽️Alert: #Vancouver and the Lower Mainland ⛽️ prices have reached their highest since Oct 13. Tomorrow will see a new record @ 164.9 cts/l. Gasbars hiked their retail margin by an extra 2 cts and BC’s 1.16 ct rise in carbon taxes Monday made a bad situation worse

While several Richmond gas stations are currently at that 163.9 rate, according to GasBuddy, some drivers may be able to fill up for as low as 147.9. Gas prices at various stations could continue to fluctuate throughout the day, however.
