Work to repair the entrance road to Iona Beach Regional Park is expected wrap up Thursday (Jan. 13), according to Metro Vancouver.
The road was damaged by erosion during last week’s storm surge and king tide, and the entrance gate has since been closed to traffic.
Richard Wallis, Metro Vancouver supervisor of parks operations, told the Richmond News last week the entrance gate would likely reopen on Saturday.
However, that timeline has since been pushed back.
While the scope of the repair work hasn’t changed, supply shortages caused by other projects underway in the region have made it harder to secure materials, Metro Vancouver told the News on Wednesday.
The entrance gate will remain closed on Thursday, according to Metro Vancouver, but the park remains open to pedestrians.
