Do you know when the city hired its first paid firefighter?
The first firefighter was hired in 1951 and by 1969, volunteer firefighters were being phased out.
The original Brighouse Fire Hall was behind the Richmond Municipal Hall at No. 3 Road and Granville Avenue.
While Brighouse Fire Hall is now known as No. 1 Hall, the honour was previously given to Steveston Fire Hall.
