Fun fact about Richmond...
Do you know how many schools existed before the Richmond School District was formed?
Four elementary schools, each located in its own separate school districts, existed before the Richmond School District came to be in 1906.
North Arm (Lulu School), Sea Island and Steveston (opened in 1897) were named after their geographic locations while the fourth school English was named after a local school board trustee and businessman Marshall M. English.
In 1906, the four districts amalgamated into one and formed today's Richmond School District.
