A Richmond craft brewery has won a gold medal at the recent Canadian Brewery Awards.
The winners of the Canadian Brewery Awards & Conference (CBAC) were announced last week at the three-day event at the Halifax Convention Centre.
And one of the gold medal winners was Monkey Nine Brewing at the Riverport Entertainment Complex on Steveston Highway.
Monkey Nine won the accolade courtesy of its Cosmic Kolsch lager, which stood up against craft beers from across the country.
“This award means so much to our entire team here at Monkey 9,” said the brewery’s general manager, Dallas Worthington.
“Coming out of the pandemic, we have gone through some massive changes in terms of management, brewing, and staff.
“Together, we have been working tirelessly to overcome these challenges while re-establishing ourselves as one of the best breweries in BC, and this award validates our efforts.”
Almost 800 craft brewers, beer professionals, suppliers and industry experts attended the conference, now in its 21st year.
More than 2,000 submissions were received from over 400 breweries from across Canada, coast to coast.
CBAC is a Beer Judge Certification Program sanctioned blind-tasting competition.
Judging took place throughout the spring and were carefully tasted and evaluated based on style guidelines for each category.
