Richmond driver seeks info after object thrown at moving vehicle

Incident described as "unfortunate" and isolated case, says Richmond RCMP

A Richmond driver is looking for answers after an object was allegedly thrown at his moving vehicle in August.

The driver was heading southbound on Garden City Road, just before General Currie Road, around 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 29 when an object smashed into his vehicle and shattered the driver-side window.

He told the Richmond News he wasn't sure what was thrown at the car, but he noticed a "young man running into a nearby complex" through his rearview mirror after he braked.

Glass ended up in the driver's pockets and shoes and into the empty child car seat on the rear right side of the car, according to the driver.

Richmond RCMP confirmed there was a report of an object being thrown at a moving vehicle and officers are currently investigating the incident.

"This was an unfortunate isolated incident," said Staff Sgt. Gurbir Mondair.

Mondair added there haven't been previous reports of objects being thrown at vehicles in motion in Richmond.

Anyone with information or possible dash cam footage of this incident is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2024-27492.
