Raymond Cheung, owner and organizer of the Richmond Night Market, confirmed to the Richmond News the fight happened on-site and the situation was quickly handled with the help of onsite security and Richmond RCMP.

"So far, we know the people involved were friends, and we don't know why they suddenly got into an argument," said Cheung.

"We are a family event, public safety is always our priority. Besides hiring security, we are also hiring RCMP onsite during the full duration of the event."

No one was hurt during the fight, according to Cheung.

Richmond RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Adriana O'Malley confirmed with the News that police attended the night market on July 21 after they received a report of an alleged fight. One individual was arrested for an alleged assault.

"This individual was released on a police undertaking with conditions," said O'Malley.

She added the investigation is active and ongoing.
