Monday's night strong winds and heavy rain knocked out power to more than 1,200 homes between No. 4 and No. 5 roads, north of Steveston Highway.

As well, the city of Richmond sent out a two-man crew to deal with six downed trees. City spokesman, Ted Townsend, said they worked throughout the night.

"Our crew responded to toppled trees all over the city, including at Williams Road and Seacote Drive, which was blocking traffic in the bike lane," said Townsend.

"At 8 a.m. this morning, our crew was still working."

According to BC Hydro's power outage map, 1,246 homes in the area should have their power restored by noon today.
