A fundraiser for the planned Richmond Hospital acute care tower has been reached, according to the Richmond Hospital Foundation.

The foundation announced Thursday that it has hit the $50-million-goal of its ACT NOW capital campaign.

“This is an incredibly historic achievement for Richmond, and it demonstrates how deeply this community believes in Richmond’s health care, now and for future generations,” said Rich Ilich, who chaired the campaign.

The campaign was launched by Richmond Hospital Foundation in 2017.

Since then, nearly 150 individuals, families and businesses have donated funds towards the new hospital tower.

Chad Pederson, board chair of the hospital foundation, pointed out that Richmond has one of the fastest-growing populations in B.C., including seniors who will require “increasingly complex care in the years ahead.”

According to the Richmond Hospital Foundation, the campaign is the largest capital campaign in Richmond.
