The Richmond Islanders 2008B team spent their long weekend in Victoria and arrived home undefeated and with gold medals around their necks.
Playing in the U15B tournament hosted by Lakehill, the girls started off their weekend on Saturday against the Sooke Steelers, earning a 14-4 win after a rocky start.
The second game saw the Duncan Rockets grounded with a resounding 16-4 win for the Islanders, which rolled into an early Sunday game against the Lakehill hosts and another big victory, 12-1.
The last round-robin game was much closer, but it still resulted in a win for the Richmond girls, 4-1 against the Port Alberni Blazers, leaving them as the number one seed and a bye for the next day.
In the semis, they once more swiped aside the Blazers, this time 9-4, en route to the gold medal game versus Delta Inferno.
Again the Islanders bats caught fire, this time in the fourth inning, where they notched five runs on the way to a convincing 6-0 win and the gold medal.
The final game started off as a 1 run defensive battle but the Islanders bats woke up in the 4th inning they scored 5 runs to earn a 6-0 victory and the gold medal.
