A Richmond man will be sentenced in July for smuggling firearm suppressors.

Peter Pao, 47, was charged with five counts related to smuggling goods into Canada and making false or deceptive customs declarations in 2019 and one count of possessing non-firearms — six-cartridge magazines — without authorization in 2020.

According to court documents, Pao smuggled firearm suppressors on August 10 and October 19, 2019. He made false declarations on four different occasions during the period, claiming that his shipment contents were a fuel solvent filter, a toy car filter and fuel filters.

Later, on January 23, 2020, he was also found in possession of six-cartridge magazines for AR-type rifles without a licence.

Pao was charged on August 9, 2022 and he was in Richmond Provincial Court on Monday afternoon to fix a date for his sentencing.

According to online court records, he will be sentenced on July 26.
