McDonald’s has closed one of its Richmond locations after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
The McDonald’s at 8191 Alderbridge Way was “immediately shut down” on Thursday (Nov. 19), after an employee reported that they had tested positive for the virus, according to McDonald’s Canada.
The employee last worked at the restaurant on Nov. 14, from 7 a.m. to noon.
All staff who may have been in close contact with the employee have been asked to self-isolate until further information is available.
McDonald’s Canada advises that any customers who visited the restaurant on Nov. 14 to take direction from the BC Centre for Disease Control.
The restaurant, which closed its doors for cleaning and sanitization by a third party, reopened its doors Friday (Nov. 20) morning.
Since COVID-19, McDonald’s Canada said it has implemented the following health and safety measures:
- Hand sanitizer dispensers available inside the restaurant
- High-touch surfaces and guest tables will be kept clean and sanitized
- Floor markers to help guests keep their distance from one another
- Front counters are fitted with protective screens
- Clearly-marking tables for dine-in to respect physical distancing
- The number of guests permitted inside a restaurant at one time will be limited based on restaurant size. This also applies to outdoor seating areas
- Employees will wear gloves for taking payment and serving guests, and will wear masks at all times while working in the restaurant. Guests are encouraged to wear a mask or face covering, and in some regions, masks or face coverings must be worn where required by public health authorities
- Contactless payment options are available at the restaurant, and guests can also order using the McDonald’s mobile app and pay on their phone
