The Richmond Night Market has extended its season by two weeks and will now incorporate a Lantern Festival finale.
Instead of finishing this Labour Day weekend, the market will continue until Sunday, Sept. 19, culminating with the Lantern Festival, a traditional Asian autumnal event, and coinciding with the Chinese Moon Cake Festival on Sept. 21.
According to the market’s website, the final weekend “will see the evenings take on a different glow with outdoor lantern installations and feature live traditional Asian dance and musical performances by community groups.”
The market is also open this Labour Day Monday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

After being closed for more than 16 months and facing numerous delays, the market finally opened July 23, but sparked concerns about COVID-19 social distancing, given the large crowds.
Due to large crowds though, market organizers had to implement increased safety measures and limit the number of people going entering the grounds.
Despite extending its end date, this season will be the market’s shortest yet, running every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening.
