A Richmond non-profit will launch a series of free webinars this summer to help local caregivers and seniors stay healthy and happy.

“These online seminars could enhance the wellbeing of seniors and caregivers. We think it’s also a great way to improve the physical health of older adults and relieve the burden of caregivers’ families,” said Melanie Fong, administrative manager of Gaia Community Care and Wellness Society (Gaia Cares), an organization aimed to advance education and specialized training for community caregivers.

The first webinar, being offered July 14, will invite Karen Lo, nutrition consultant and yoga instructor, to share tips on keeping bones healthy.

In addition, Lo will help people to understand how diet, physical activity and other lifestyle factors could affect bone mass.

Starting from today, Lo will offer entry-level yoga lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays from July 14 to Aug. 12, which could help participants improve their body strength and focus while strengthening balance and flexibility.

“Having a healthy lifestyle can help you manage stress and form better relationships with families. We look forward to having more people join us this summer,” said Fong.
