Richmond police seek info about 'stranger assault' suspect

An 88-year-old woman fell to the floor after the alleged assault.

Richmond RCMP are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect in an alleged stranger assault on an elderly woman on Tuesday, March 5.

At about 4:30 p.m., an 88-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a female stranger inside a business in the 9200 block of Alderbridge Way, just east of Garden City Road.

The victim was allegedly struck in the head.

Unfortunately, no one appears to have witnessed it.

The victim was struck hard enough that she fell onto the floor but, fortunately, she didn't sustain any physical injuries, said Cpl. Adriana O’Malley, Richmond RCMP media relations officer. 

“We believe there are people who will recognize this suspect and implore anyone who can identify her to call us,” O'Malley added.

At this time, the motive for this incident is unknown.

The investigation remains active and on-going.
