Rabbitats is back with another Meet n' Treat event at Lavenderland on Sept. 10, just in time for the annual Mid-Autumn Festival.
Visitors will get to meet and feed rescued rabbits, learn more about the Chinese Moon rabbit folklore, participate in crafts and quizzes and shop rabbit-related items.
Rabbitats will also be teaching visitors about rabbits as pets, rabbit-related community contact information, as well as gardening tips including rabbit proofing and the wonders of rabbit compost.
"Richmond is a major centre for abandoned pets and their feral offspring with well over 1000 rabbits loose and breeding in the municipality.
"The Chinese community provides tremendous support for Rabbitats as we try to solve this issue, and as we approach the Year of the Rabbit – 12 years after the rescue’s inception," reads the media release.
The Moon Rabbit Meet n' Treat and Rabbit Information Sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lavenderland next Saturday. The event is sponsored in part by a grant from the Richmond Community Foundation.
Admission is first come first served due to limited capacity and a minimum donation of $5 is requested for entry to support the rescue's operations. If visitors want a cup of salad and access to the bunny feeding area, there is an additional charge of $4.
