Residents of an East Richmond neighbourhood were surprised to find police cruisers and frontline officers outside their homes on Friday night.
According to a reader who asked to remain anonymous, he was woken up by police cruisers and other emergency vehicles arriving near the intersection of No. 7 Road and Westminster Highway on Aug. 11.
An officer was heard shouting at someone to walk with their hands up, said the reader.
Cpl. Dennis Hwang, Richmond RCMP spokesperson, confirmed officers were at the scene at 10:45 p.m. to attend a domestic disturbance call.
One man was apprehended under the Mental Health Act, said Hwang, who added police are unable to provide more details due to the incident’s sensitive nature.
