The Richmond RCMP has released further details about a shooting in the 7000 block of Ackroyd Road.
The RCMP was called to the scene at approximately 11:03 a.m. after receiving a report of shots fired. Frontline officers arrived and found two deceased victims who both suffered gunshot wounds.
"Based on the investigative theory in this initial phase, this does not appear to be a random act," said the RCMP.
The police are currently gathering evidence and no further information will be provided at this time.
"The situation is under control and well contained. At this time there is no immediate danger to the public in this area," the RCMP had said earlier.
A reader of the News had reported seeing around 20 police vehicles in the area at noon.
The portion of Ackroyd Rd between No. 3 Rd and Minoru Blvd will remain closed for the foreseeable future, as the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team works in partnership with Richmond RCMP.
