Santa Claus will be first in line for vaccines scheduled to arrive in B.C. next week, says Dr. Bonnie Henry.
“I have it on very good authority,” said Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer. “He is first in line for vaccine.”
Santa Claus will be immune to the COVID-19 virus by Christmas time, she said.
“He’s going to be very, very careful and he’s going to be wearing masks when he’s in houses,” she said. “He’s going to be cleaning his hands a lot, and the reindeer are going to be very careful as well.”
Children have been advised they can leave out cookies and milk for Santa as he makes his way around the world.
Henry said it was difficult — but necessary — to find a bit of levity Thursday as the province announced 28 deaths linked to COVID-19.
She took seriously her responsibility to let children know St. Nick will be cleared for essential travel.
“It’s important that we find the joy, every day, even on tragic days like today.”
