Second vigil planned in Richmond for Tuesday evening

Richmond Secondary students have been making buttons to raise money for Indigenous youth.

A second vigil will be held in front of Brighouse library at 7 p.m. Tuesday evening to commemorate the 215 Indigenous children whose bodies were found buried outside Kamloops Indian Residential School.

Mary Point will be the Musqueam representative at the event.

A memorial with children shoes has been growing in the plaza in front of the library.

To raise money for the Urban Native Youth Association, Richmond Secondary students have make buttons, designed by two Indigenous students.

The buttons that say “Every Child Matters” will be sold at the vigil on Tuesday evening.

So far, the Richmond Secondary students have raised already $600.
