Richmond Fire-Rescue on scene of a suspected fire at St. Albans Road on March 11, 2025.

Firefighters and two firetrucks were seen near an abandoned home in Richmond City Centre on Tuesday.

Richmond Fire-Rescue received multiple calls mid-morning on March 11 of a "structure fire" at 7300 St. Albans Road, between Bennett and General Currie roads.

When the first firefighting crew arrived, they noticed smoke coming from several areas of an abandoned residence, according to Grant Wyenberg, assistant deputy chief of Richmond Fire-Rescue.

However, they could not find any heat or "evidence of a burned area of item" inside the building.

"The building was cleared of smoke and monitored until a fire investigator arrived on scene," said Wyenberg.

Investigation is still ongoing, but no cause has been determined.
