An individual was arrested for shoplifting cases in Richmond.

A suspect was arrested last month for stealing from a Richmond store and two previous shoplifting offences.

Richmond RCMP officers responded to a shoplifting call after 10 p.m. on April 17 near Leslie and No. 3 roads.

Loss prevention officers at the retail store reported to the RCMP that the suspect left the store with "multiple items without payment."

The suspect was then arrested after allegedly being found with stolen goods.

Police investigation found the individual was also wanted for two outstanding warrants for previous shoplifting offences.

"Effective community policing is at the heart of our operations, and this arrest demonstrates our proactive stance against retail theft in Richmond," said Insp. Mike Roberts, Richmond RCMP Operations Officer.

Roberts added retailers and community members are encouraged to quickly report retail thefts.

"Timely reporting is crucial, enabling us to respond effectively and deter future incidents. Richmond RCMP appreciates the ongoing support from the community and local businesses as we work together to make Richmond the safest city in Canada."
