Richmond RCMP responded to shots fired on Jones Road on Tuesday night.

A 19-year-old male was taken to hospital on Tuesday night, after being shot in a quiet, central Richmond neighbourhood.

Richmond RCMP is reporting that the shooting, around 10:30 p.m. - on Jones Road, just north of Blundell and No. 3 roads - was likely targeted.

The RCMP said officers arrived in the area and found the 19-year-old victim bleeding from what appeared to be a gun-shot injury.

The lone victim was then taken to hospital where he has since been released, and is expected to recover from his injuries.

“Through the course of the investigation, we have learned that the shooting was targeted, and suspects have been identified,” said Const. Kenneth Lau.

“Therefore, there is no ongoing risk to the public.”

The Richmond News has asked if the victim was known to police and if the incident is connected to the fatal shootings in Surrey over the past week.

The Richmond RCMP Serious Crimes Unit have since taken over the investigation.
