Tesla drivers can expect 20 new Tesla Superchargers coming to Richmond Centre this fall.
Construction for the Tesla-specific charging stations, which is located at the north end of the shopping centre along Westminster Highway, is underway.
Sheila Luft, general manager of CF Richmond Centre, told the News that they are happy to work with Tesla once again in extending the EV charging network throughout Canada.
“We already have the relationship with Tesla from previous collaborations and starting in a few years, we hope to install more universal EV chargers and extend the network to benefit others,” said Luft.
Luft said that Richmond Centre saw a fair number of Tesla cars in their parking lot based on “anecdotal observations and the growing demographic for Tesla drivers” in Richmond.
The shopping centre and Tesla decided that 20 new charging stations for Tesla drivers “seemed like an appropriate number, along with statistics that Tesla has considered.”
Richmond Centre boasts a parking lot with more than 330 parking stalls, but that may change as there are plans to install more universal EV chargers at the south end of the shopping centre in the future.
