Three people have been charged in Richmond Provincial Court for trafficking in controlled substances.
After a three-year investigation, the Richmond RCMP Organized Crime Unit (OCU) executed search warrants in Richmond and Vancouver. They allegedly recovered about $165,000 in Canadian cash, $14,000 in U.S. cash, about 3.6 kilograms of methamphetamine and about 1,500 tablets of MDMA.
Wan Yu Hui faces seven counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, Yeping Yang faces four counts and Weiyi Yu faces two counts.
“These charges mark a significant step forward in our ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Richmond,” said Chief Supt. Dave Chauhan, officer-in-charge of Richmond RCMP.
“This investigation demonstrates our dedication to dismantling criminal operations and protecting our community from the dangers of illicit drugs. We will continue to work tirelessly, alongside our partners, to ensure that those threatening the safety of our community are held accountable.”
This investigation was initiated as the result of intelligence garnered from another Richmond RCMP OCU investigation.
“What this shows is the tangled web of complexity we often come across in investigations associated to organized crime,” said Chauhan.
“These investigations underscore Richmond RCMP’s steadfast commitment to tackling drug trafficking in the City of Richmond. Richmond RCMP encourages anyone with information associated to potential criminal activities to contact their police of jurisdiction.”
