Two men face robbery, firearms charges in Richmond court

Charges include possession of a Browning pistol.

Two men are facing charges in Richmond Provincial Court of robbery, vehicle theft and possession of a Browning Hi-Power pistol without a licence or registration certificate.

Vitaly Ian Alexander McKechnie and Ryan Singh Samra were charged with eight counts for an alleged robbery of one individual and theft of a vehicle belonging to a freight company on Aug. 13, 2023.

Charges include robbery, using an imitation firearm during a robbery, masking their faces, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of the prohibited or restricted firearm, the Browning pistol, and being in a vehicle with a prohibited or restricted firearm.

All the incidents allegedly took place in Richmond.

McKechnie and Samra briefly appeared in court this week and will be back to fix a date for their next court appearance next week.

They have been out on bail since Oct. 17.
