The body found in a remote corner of Sea Island in Richmond Saturday morning has been identified as a male, believed to be in his 60s.
A spokesperson for the BC Coroner’s office, however, told the Richmond News on Monday that identification is still to be confirmed through forensic testing.
“In addition to determining identity, our investigation will determine how, where, when and by what means the male came to his death. We are still in the early stages of this investigation,” added the spokesperson.
The News reported Saturday evening how the YVR detachment of Richmond RCMP were first on scene around 10:30 a.m. earlier that day.
The RCMP said at the time that identification may take some time due to the body’s “advanced state.”
Accessibility to the area, in the southwest corner of Sea Island where it was found, is limited.
