A pesky rodent managed to shut off power to 10,850 BC Hydro customers on Monday morning.
The rodent contacted the transformer and caused a converter fault at the Cambie substation, explained BC Hydro spokesperson Tanya Fish, causing power to go out in large areas of central and east Richmond.
Power was reported out around 5:30 a.m. but crews were able to get it restored by 7 a.m.
Fish said it was a relatively “quick fix” once crews got on site to the Cambie substation.
