Those in independent seniors living facilities were immunized last week.

Seniors born in 1936 or earlier can start booking COVID-19 vaccines on Thursday at noon – four days earlier than originally scheduled.

Also, Indigenous seniors aged 65 and older can continue booking appointments.

Health Minister Adrian Dix announced the revised schedule on Wednesday afternoon on Twitter.

After a slow start to bookings whereby only 369 people in Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) – aged 90 and older – managed to secure appointments, on Tuesday and Wednesday, the system was working better.

The vaccination schedule will go in five-year increments every week, starting next week with those 90 and older.

On Monday morning, about a million calls came in across the province to book COVID-19 vaccines.

When calling, seniors will need to give their first and last name, personal health number, date of birth, postal code and phone number.

In Richmond, there are three immunization clinics being set up: East Richmond Community Hall (west of Cambie secondary), Jackson Lam Adult Day Care in Steveston and River Rock Casino.

The number to call in VCH to book an appointment is 1-877-587-5767.
