Travellers looking for cheap flights from Vancouver south of the border may want to set their sights on the Windy City.
Flights from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) cost around $400 round-trip or less depending on whether the itinerary includes a stopover.
The price of one-way flights from Vancouver to Chicago starts at under $200 including all taxes and fees depending on whether the ticket is booked directly through the airline or a third-party supplier.
For example, a flight departing on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 a.m. from YVR to ORD costs as little as $190 through Kiwi.com. The itinerary includes one stop in Calgary for just under two and a half hours. Travellers who prefer to book with a larger travel company may want to opt for FlightHub at $217 or book directly with WestJet for $228 (see slides two and three).
Round-trip options from Vancouver to Chicago
Round-trip flights from Vancouver to Chicago are also a steal in the new year, with prices starting at under $350. Travellers hoping to get away over Valentine's Day can enjoy a romantic getaway for less.
A flight departing YVR on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 6:30 a.m. and returning from ORD on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 4:45 p.m. costs $324 through Kiwi.com and $402 directly with WestJet. The itinerary includes one stop in Calgary in either direction, with the first for just over two hours and the second for just under two and a half hours.
Travellers looking for direct options don't have to pay top dollar. A trip on the same date costs $402 directly with Air Canada. However, there are no cheaper options through third-party suppliers.
According to Google Flights, this price is considered "low" for economy or $321 cheaper than usual.
