Part of a main road in City Centre is closed to traffic Friday afternoon due to flooding in the area, after a car hit a fire hydrant.
It appears, from photos and video of the scene, that a car hit a fire hydrant, knocking it over and causing water to flood into the intersection at Alderbridge and Hazelbridge ways, near Lansdowne Centre.
Richmond RCMP shut down the intersection for a few hours as they investigated the incident.
Footage shows the front of the car heavily damaged.
According to an eyewitness, the driver appears to have been talking to police. It also appears to have been a single-vehicle accident.
Mounties and fire-rescue are on scene.
