Police are looking for a man facing child-luring charges after he was released on bail earlier this week.
Richmond RCMP confirmed with Richmond News on Thursday that police are "actively seeking to arrest" Peter Andrew Wehren, who has an outstanding warrant "stemming from an alleged breach" of bail conditions.
The 32-year-old is facing two charges of communicating with someone under 16 years old to facilitate some sort of sexual offence or abduction.
Wehren was arrested in a Steveston park on Feb. 21 and was subsequently released on a police undertaking.
He was arrested again on Feb. 23 for allegedly breaching his release conditions by going to a park and released on bail on Feb. 29 with conditions including no going to public parks and no possessing alcohol unless inside his residence.
Three days after his release, on March 3, Wehren was arrested for allegedly breaching his bail conditions by going to a public park and being intoxicated in public.
He was granted bail on March 4 with release conditions including a requirement to report to his bail supervisor. He is also prohibited from possessing alcohol and he must attend programming or counselling as directed by the bail supervisor.
Richmond RCMP media spokesperson Cpl. Adriana O'Malley told the News police determined that there is a "specific identified group against whom, and area where, these offences are alleged to have occurred."
"In addition to the accused being known within the community, Richmond RCMP have increased patrols and community outreach in the community," she said.
"Richmond RCMP are working diligently to protect the community while also working to protect the integrity of the judicial process, including a right to fair trial."
Wehren was scheduled to return to Richmond Provincial Court on April 9 to fix a date for a subsequent appearance.
