Thirty-two businesses in Steveston have adopted a nation for the World Cup of soccer and are hosting a National Day each day.

ANAF is the home for Nigeria Day on Wednesday, July 2, with France Dy at the Cannery Cafe on Thursday, July 3.

Bare Basics lingerie store hosts its Mexican National Day on Friday, July 4, with a BBQ with Mexican chicken skewers; pinatas for the kids to smash; Mexican music; all from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Prickley Pear is marking Uruguay Day on Saturday July 5, while The Candy Dish celebrates Cameroon Day on Sunday, July 6 with a bubble gum-blowing competition (11 a.m.-noon); kids treats and face-painting and over at Shady Island Seafood Bar and Grill, it's Bosnia Day!

* ANAF will host the party for the final two days of the World Cup Village, July 12 and 13. Tickets costing $25 are on sale at Bean and Beyond, with a grand prize of a return trip for two within B.C., courtesy of Pacific Coastal Airlines.
