Year in Review – September:

The minor hockey world in Richmond was turned upside down in September when the board of the Richmond Jets voted to hold a special meeting to oust its own president.

The board of the Jets — which is only just over a year old, having been born out of the merger of rival clubs Richmond Minor and Richmond Seafair — called for the removal of Carolyn Hart.

It claimed it had “lost confidence” in Hart and asked her to resign, citing the emergence of an account holding $147,000, apparently dating back to Richmond Minor, when Hart was also president.

All funds, the board pointed out, from the two former clubs were to be poured into the one pot, when the Jets formed in 2018.

Hart flatly denied any wrongdoing and refused to resign, forcing the board to hold the vote with its 1,100 membership in October.

The board failed in its attempt to remove Hart as it needed 67 per cent of the votes but only got 63.9 per cent.
