The Richmond Kigoos Swim Club is headed to the provincial championships this month.
While the club took a long hiatus, its athletes dove right back into the Fraser South Regional Championships this weekend in Richmond and 25 swimmers will be competing in the provincials held in Kamloops from Aug. 19 to 21.
The senior Kigoos led in points by Division 6 swimmer Emi Nishi who won gold in all four of her individual events and narrowly missing a regional meet record by 0.03 seconds.
Nishi was joined by teammates Catherine Labao and Alex Yuil in the 100m Fly for a full club sweep of the podium.
Other key performers this weekend were sibling duo Abigail and Anson Cheung who won five gold and one bronze medals in six events.
The junior Kigoos were led by Division 1 swimmers Rio Miller and Elise Curtiss, both claiming medals in all their events.
Swimmers Oliver Chen, Nathan Zhang, Fern Buckley, Sienna Sugiarto, Nick Pham, Lucas Yuill and Mike Jakac-Sinclair all won gold medals in their events as well.
The Kigoos also had 14 relay teams with top two finishes, which sent them towards the provincials.
