Toronto police are investigating after a teenage girl was struck and killed by a car in the city's east end this morning.

Police say they were called to the scene in Scarborough just before 10 a.m. for a report of a female pedestrian being hit.

They say paramedics responded but the pedestrian, a 15-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police allege a Honda CRV was travelling east on Brimwood Boulevard and was turning left at Bridley Drive when it hit the girl as she was crossing the road within the crosswalk.

Police say the driver of the Honda, a 44-year-old woman, remained on scene.

They say no charges have been laid at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
