Clark's justice questionable

The Editor,

Well, whoop deedo - Premier Christy Clark has acknowledged the Liberal Party was up to its eyeballs in the current "ethnic" scandal.

Not that anyone expected any different.

Now, comes the good part!

Good ol' Clark states the Liberals have "cut a cheque" for the amount they stole from public funds: $70,000!

Now, isn't this a new approach to justice?

Let's examine this: A senior manager liberates a whole bunch of cash from a private business. An audit determines this thief has stolen a bunch of cash. Said thief "cuts a cheque" for the amount he stole, and walks away with a grin.

Not bloody likely, says the law. Prosecution would follow and at least some penalty would be levied.

So, in this instance, the money was stolen from public funds by an organization (and individuals in the Liberal Party) and our brilliant premier declares, all is forgiven, we paid back the money, and that's the end of it!

And we wonder why politicians are held in contempt by so may of the citizens?
