This year’s winners of the 15th Annual Chinese Restaurant Awards were just announced and Richmond was well represented.
The best new Chinese restaurant of 2024 is Jiangnan Wok located at 1211-8388 Capstan Way in Richmond. The dim sum chef of the year is Chef Lai Wei of Lanyuan Restaurant located at 170-3631 No.3 Rd. and the Elite Service Crew Member of the Year is Lisa Zhang from The Fish Man also in Richmond.
I was honoured to be one of the judges to choose the Elite 15 Chinese restaurants in Vancouver and Richmond. It is so good to see Richmond Chinese restaurants being recognized particularly since Michelin does not rate restaurants in Richmond.
Eight Richmond restaurants made the Elite 15 list.
Bamboo Grove Restaurant at 6920 No.3 Rd. is the oldest Chinese restaurant in Richmond. It was established in 1963.
Golden Paramount Seafood Restaurant at 8111 Anderson Rd. is another restaurant with a long history in Richmond. Chef May Chau at the restaurant also received a Chinese Master Chef Award this year.
Max Noodle House at 8291 Alexandra Rd. has a wonton noodle soup as one of their signature dishes.
Memory Corner at 1110-4651 Garden City Rd. serves Taiwanese cuisine and one of its popular dishes is the crispy popcorn chicken.
Osmanthus Chinese Fusion Restaurant at 2788-4151 Hazelbridge Way is inside Aberdeen Centre. I visited this restaurant a few months ago. Please see my review of this restaurant here.
Sea Harbour Seafood Restaurant at 150-8888 River Rd. is part of the River Rock Casino complex. I was recently at this restaurant and enjoyed their king crab with mayo wasabi cream sauce, a modern spin on how to eat king crab
The Fish Man at 1170 – 8391 Alexandra Rd. is known for its Sichuan mala flavours and exceptional seafood.
The Jade Seafood Restaurant at 280-2811 No.3 Rd. is another long-time Richmond institution that serves everything from double-boiled soups to Chiuchow stir fry. See my review of this restaurant here.
Vancouver's first Michelin restaurant Iden and Quanjude along with Michelin-recommended restaurants Chang’an, Chef’s Choice Chinese Cuisine and Dynasty Seafood Restaurant also made the Elite 15 list.
For a complete list of award winners, including the Critic’s Choice Signature Dish Awards, please see the awards’ website here.
I love these awards as they spotlight various restaurants and encourage foodies to try new restaurants and form their own opinions. So please go out and support these restaurants and applaud their accolades!
Until next time, happy eating.
