This June, The Sharing Farm will be celebrating Canada 150 and we invite you to come and join us, for a relaxing, rural evening in the middle of the city.
Thanks to funding from the City of Richmond, we will be putting on two lovely evenings filled with storytelling and free, tasty vegetarian fare, featuring fresh produce grown right here on the farm.
Richmond is a city with a rich agricultural history and we are going to celebrate it by hosting two speakers. On June 22, Coun. Bill McNulty, a local historian, will be focusing on Richmond’s agricultural history from the late 1800s-1900. On June 29, Jane Komori, who has a family background in farming, will focus on Japanese-Canadian history, and be discussing the resilience and creativity that surrounds food production in that community.
Attendees will also have a chance to see what a working farm looks like in modern times through farm tours conducted by our knowledgeable staff.
We’re envisioning a warm sunny evening surrounded by the gorgeous flowers, fruits and vegetables growing on the farm and the equally warm smiles of our neighbours. However, as all farmers and event planners know, Mother Nature does not always accommodate, so in the case of bad weather, the events will be moved to The Red Barn.
Admission is free but as this is a catered event we really need you to register so we can make sure there’s enough food. See SharingFarm.ca/Canada150.
